Factions

Factions Overview

Factions are a core part of our Lifesteal gamemode. They define how players team up, claim land, and compete for dominance across the world. On our server, Factions allow players to create powerful groups, protect territory, manage members, and engage in wars and diplomacy. Whether you're a solo grinder or a team strategist, Factions provide the essential structure for survival and power.

Factions enable land protection, PvP strategy, and role management. When land is claimed by a faction, it becomes protected from non-members. Factions can form alliances or declare enemies, adding a political dimension to gameplay where diplomacy can be just as important as combat.

New players can either join an existing faction or start their own. Use /f create <name> to form a new faction and claim your land using /f claim. To view your current land and relationships, use /f map and /f show.

Factions operate on a Power system. Each member contributes power, which determines how much land your faction can claim. If your faction’s total power drops below the amount of land owned (often due to player deaths), your land can be overclaimed by other factions.

Faction Permissions

Factions include a robust permission system that allows leaders to assign roles with specific rights, controlling what players can or cannot do within faction land. This includes building, accessing containers, using doors, placing blocks, and more. Each permission can be customized per role and relation.

There are three default roles in a faction:

  • Leader: Has full access to all commands and permissions (only one per faction).

  • Moderator: Trusted members who can invite/kick players and manage territory.

  • Member: Standard members with basic access.

Additional roles may include:

  • Recruit: New or trial members with limited access.

  • Alt: Alternate accounts with restricted permissions.

Each role can be granted or denied specific permissions using the /f perm command. Permissions can also be assigned based on relationships (e.g., allies, truces), making it easy to configure what others can do in your territory.

Common Permissions:

  • Build: Place or break blocks.

  • Container: Access chests, hoppers, furnaces, etc.

  • Door: Open doors and trapdoors.

  • Button: Use buttons and levers.

  • Invite: Invite new members.

  • Kick: Remove members.

  • Claim: Claim land for the faction.

  • Unclaim: Unclaim owned land.

Relation-Based Permissions:

You can also define what allies, truces, or enemies can do in your land. For example, to deny allies access to containers:

/f perm set ally container deny

This command would prevent allied players from opening your chests.

To view or edit your current faction permissions, use:

/f perm
